Santa Barbara Vintners Foundation | Smoke Remediation Technology Briefing
New smoke remediation technology focused on value recovery
amaea molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) represent a breakthrough in the treatment of smoke-affected wine. Their unique design enables smoke impacts to be selectively captured, while leaving desirable compounds in place. By being able to retain the body and varietal character of the wine, amaea MIPs have helped return smoke impacted wines to their intended program.
On the 14 February 2025, Santa Barbara Vintners Association members gathered to participate in the briefing where they had the opportunity to:
Learn how amaea MIPs work and the analytical evidence supporting targeted removal;
Discuss winemakers’ experiences using amaea MIPs for smoke remediation;
Participat in a tasting of a amaea MIP treated, smoke impacted wine.
Access the full tasting report from the briefing.
This briefing was hosted in partnership with the Santa Barbara Vintners Association. We would like to thank Cambria Estate Winery for hosting this event.
