Molecularly Imprinted Polymers

  • Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are a smart filtration media, designed to selectively capture molecules from liquids. For more information on MIPs visit our What are MIPs page.

  • After a specified throughput, MIPs are regenerated using an eluent. This releases the captured molecules and prepares the MIPs for the next treatment cycle.

Treatments

  • Our system enables producers to control the level of treatment to achieve their intended sensory outcomes. Selection of desired treatment levels is conducted by modifying dose rate (a measure of the available capture sites) and flow rate (a measure of the contact time of the wine with the MIPs). Typically, a bench-top trial is used to determine preferred treatment rates.

  • Depending on the type of treatment required and selected treatment rates, our system can treat 8,000 - 100,000 gallons (33,000 - 400.000L) per day. Systems can be scaled to achieve multiple treatment volumes and can vary based on requirements.

  • Our system can be delivered by one of our experienced service providers or can be installed onsite depending on your organization’s setup and needs.

  • Our technology is currently available in the USA, Canada and New Zealand. We are currently working on expanding and broadening the use of our technology in other countries.

  • All our service providers can conduct benchtop trials. Where possible, trials are conducted at your facility. Depending on the number of wines, a trial will typically take 2 – 4 hours. For a trial, you will need to provide:

    • 1 - 2 gallons / 4 – 8 litres per wine sample

    • Winemaker presence to determine treatment rates and provide sensory feedback

    • Small bench space

    • Access to 110 V power supply

    • A portable water supply

    • Collection vessels

Compliance

  • Our products are compliant as permitted food contact materials for wine processing in the USA (under the US FDA’s Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and the US Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) as per 27 CFR 24.250), Canada (under the Canadian Food and Drugs Act) and New Zealand (under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code). We are currently working on expanding and broadening the use of our technology in other countries.

  • Our MIPs have been approved by the US Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) for continuous use, as per 27 CFR 24.250 of the Code of Federal Regulations as detailed on the TTB TTB website.

  • No special permits are required.
